Radiofrequency Ablation Procedure

What is a Radiofrequency Ablation Procedure?

A radiofrequency ablation procedure is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure used to treat patients with Barrett’s Oesophagus with dysplasia, Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia (GAVE) or radiation proctitis. In these procedures, directed and controlled heat energy is used to eliminate damaged tissue or abnormal blood vessels. New, healthier tissue grows back in place of the removed damaged tissue, thereby relieving symptoms, and in the case of Barrett’s Oesophagus, preventing the development of Oesophageal Cancer.
